Mastering horsemanship is a journey, not an overnight achievement. At Painted Star Equestrian, we understand that true horsemanship extends beyond the saddle and requires time, dedication, and a holistic approach. This is why our program goes beyond traditional riding lessons, catering to those aspiring to become well-rounded horsemen and potentially horse owners.
Recognizing the limitations of once-a-week riding lessons, we launched the Painted Star Equestrian HorsePlay Days, aiming to provide the most comprehensive educational experience for our clients. Our philosophy is simple: place equal emphasis on horsemanship and riding skills. We strive to cultivate knowledgeable, empathetic horsemen who can reflect on their time at Painted Star Equestrian with pride and a deep understanding of the value of their education.
RODEO RIDING LEVELS
Our Levels Program is structured to help riders set realistic goals and track their progress. The program includes access to training videos and additional learning resources on our website, supplementing the hands-on learning at the barn.
Our students benefit from monthly unmounted 1-hour sessions, available both in-person and online for those unable to attend physically. These sessions cover a wide range of topics crucial to horsemanship, including:
- Nutrition
- Anatomy
- Saddle Fitting and Tack
- Bits and Their Uses
- Horse Breeds and Colors
- Trailering and Maintenance
- Groundwork and Handling
- Techniques for Falling Off Safely
The curriculum is levels-based, both in horsemanship and riding. As members master the skills in each level, they test out and progress to more advanced concepts, gaining additional barn privileges along the way.
